“Go therefore and Make Disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Mathew 28:19-20

Ethiopian Lutheran Fellowship in North America launched this web page  1. to encourage and nurture  the Mekane Yesus members with the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever they are.
2. Reach others with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Fellowship of Ethiopian Lutherans or Mekane Yesus Members in North America  was formally formed in Irvine, California in the meeting held between July 22-23, 2005.

Purpose

1.    To reach and organize Mekane Yesus Members so that they may receive Pastoral care in the faith and tradition they have grown up with from home (Ethiopia)
2.    To reach with the Gospel to all who need to hear about the saving work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
3.    To establish a relationship with Mekane Yesus in Ethiopia.
4.    To establish a relationship with all partners in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, particularly with those who are of the same confession of faith.

Statement of Faith/Beliefs:- 1. We believe that the Old and the New Testament Scriptures are infallible Word of God, written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, having the final authority in matters of faith and life.

2. We accept the three Ecumenical Creeds: the Apostle Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian creed.
3. We accept the Confessional documents of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as true expositions of the Word of God.
To be specific we believe:-
1.    In the Trinity, in the one God who has revealed himself in three persons, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
2.    We believe in God the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth.
3.    We believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only mediator and reconciler between us and God.
4.    We believe in the Holy Spirit the instructor and the giver of life by uniting us with Christ crucified and risen.
5.    We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are not merely ordinances or symbols but channels by which God gives his salvation to those who are in the faith. We believe this because of the promise of the Word of God attached to them.
6.    We believe the Love and Grace of God in Christ is the central teaching of the Holy Scriptures and that this Grace is for everyone without distinction of race, sex or age.
7.    Therefore we baptize children of believing parents so that they may not be excluded from the Grace of God in Christ and thereby are disciples from their childhood as the Lord commanded.
8.    We believe salvation is God’s choosing of us through Christ and not our choosing of Him. He found us and called us and not vice-versa.
9.    We believe that we as the Church of Jesus Christ are one body and the unity and love thus created supersedes all human barriers such as race, color and ethnic origin.
10.    We believe that God is God of order and peace and therefore Worship should be orderly and peaceful and not chaotic.
11.    We believe that all human relationships in a society should be pleasing to God and according to His Word.
12.    Therefore we uphold the sanctity of marriage, that it is only between a man and a woman. We believe homosexual relation is sin before God.
13.    We believe that all those who have been redeemed by faith in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, will have life eternal life after the present life.
